Donate my truck-Got my cable today. Works great on my wife’s stock phone. Did NOT work on my AOSP Eclipse ROM. I flashed a backup to a blur eclipse and it does work!

I’ve heard random reports that the Motorola charging audio cable is not compatible with the RAZR HD / MAXX.

I use the USB/Aux cable on my Moto dock in my truck. Seeing as GM dummies didn’t have bluetooth in my Sierra in 08, I have to use the aux cable to get sound to my factory stereo. I have an XT926 and it works great. I plug the USB/Aux cable into the back of the dock, then plug the USB cable into my charger and then plug the 3.5mm cable into the Aux input on the moto cable and the other end into my truck radio. Works like a champ!

this sounds awesome, the aux cable I have is really finicky in my XT926 headphone port.
Where do I get this mystery cable?
A quick amazon search was fruitless.

Google Motorola SKN6394A. That is the part number for the cable. Many sources come up. Enjoy!

This is incorrect. I use the Moto car dock, Moto “Y” cable (USB + aux), and Moto 2 port USB charger and it works fine. The only issue is that the phone/dock is hard-wired to not send phone audio to your speakers via aux, even if your car’s stereo is set to Aux. The only way to get phone audio with this setup to your car is via Bluetooth.

That would be what I was referring to. It does not work or is finicky.

Fair enough. I contacted Motorola technical support on this, and apparently it is a design intent for whatever reason. There is some chip connected to the USB connector in the dock itself that forces the phone’s hardware to route all call audio to speaker. Basically there’s no way to work around it from a software end.

Speaking of issues with the dock, I tried out the official CM10.1 nightly, and something with that setup causes massive lag whenever I connect to the Moto vehicle dock. Lag on the scale of 1 frame per 10 seconds, borderline hard lock. It’s not the actual vehicle mode app launching (I’ve tried killing it) but something with how CM10.1 is dealing with being connected to the dock. As soon as I pull it out of the dock, the lag goes away. That was present in all 3 versions of the nightlys I tried (I think 8/3, 8/4, and 8/7).
