A 2020 Action Agenda for Advancing the Arts in Education

“The Arts Leading the Way to Student Success: A 2020 Action Agenda for Advancing the Arts in Education” will serve as the blueprint for the collective work of the Arts Education Partnership for the next five years. By addressing the four priority areas highlighted in this Action Agenda. the Partnership will be moving toward the goal that, by the year 2020, every young person in America, at every grade level, will have equitable access to high quality arts learning opportunities, both during the school day and out-of-school time.

Education Commission of the States has four new reports focused on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):

Registration is now open for the 2017 AEP Annual Convening: The Arts Leading the Way to Student Success taking place Sept. 6-7 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

One of AEP s priorities is to ensure that the arts and education communities have the resources necessary to engage in the many opportunities the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) opens up for expanding the arts in U.S. classrooms. Click here for more information.

Commonly referred to as the Nation’s Report Card, the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only continuing, national measure of the academic achievement of America’s public and private schools. The 2016 NAEP marked the fifth national assessment of both music and visual arts disciplines. The newly released Nation’s Arts Report Card Toolkit helps users to maximize the results from the 2016 NAEP Assessment in the Arts. More

ArtScan is a searchable clearinghouse of the latest state policies supporting education in and through the arts from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This new resource from AEP includes not only policy language excerpted directly from each state’s education policies but also information on state-level surveys of arts education and a set of descriptive education indicators. More
