The traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is a limited access/limited enrollment upper division major comprised of sequential course offerings and elective courses. Nursing courses are based on concepts and principles from liberal studies, biological and behavioral sciences, and nursing theory. This theoretical base is combined with the nursing process to provide evidence-based nursing care to individuals and groups in a variety of health care settings. Graduates of the BSN program are well-prepared for the national licensure exam to become a registered nurse (RN), and have the foundation necessary to pursue higher education. The BSN program is a 2-year course of study. Students are admitted through a competitive application process to the College of Nursing program after they have completed the nursing prerequisites. In addition it is important that all Liberal Studies/General Education requirements and a minimum 52 FSU semester hours be complete, or have earned an Associates of Arts degree from a Florida public institution. Students with degrees or course work from Florida private or out-of-state institutions will receive a course by course evaluation to determine if they have satisfied these requirements. The College of Nursing is located in Duxbury Hall, a modern four-story facility with technology enhanced classrooms and lecture halls. Our patient simulators, clinical labs, research tools, and study areas provide students with an exceptional learning environment. Clinical experiences are planned in the College’s simulation center and throughout a variety of regional health care agencies. The Florida State University College of Nursing BSN programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). A limited number of students will be admitted to the BSN program on a space available basis. Applications will be accepted from December 1st through February 1st.
