Volkswagen Jetta ‘2 million’ special edition Listed & Priced in China

A very special edition of the good old Volkswagen Jetta, it is called the ‘2 million’ to celebrate that 2 million of these Jetta’s were made China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. The 2 million has a special paint, special alloys and all the goodies a Jetta-owner could wish for. It was officially listed on the Chinese market for a special price: 88.800 yuan, eight being a very lucky number in China.

Spy Shots: FAW-Volkswagen Magotan / Passat B7L

The Passat B7 is made in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture and called Magotan. For China Volkswagen uses the B7L platform, a B7 stretched by 103mm in the middle for more space in the back. VW to Double its Dealers in China

Volkswagen Group plans to almost double its dealerships in China in the next five to eight years, according to Christian Klingler, the company’s board member for sales and marketing.

By 2014 the company intends to have 1,600 dealerships, up from the current 1,000, with the number of employees expected to surge from the present 56,700 to more than 100,000, Klingler said. “There will be more growth (in dealer outlets) in smaller cities than in first-tier cities,” Klingler said. “And clearly growth in the western region will be stronger than in the east.”

New Audi A6 spotted Testing in China

The new Audi A6 has been spotted while testing in China. The Audi A6 will be made in China by the FAW-VW joint venture but only in the extended ‘L’-version with a wheelbase of over 3 meters. Production of the China-made A6 will start before the end of this year. The car on pic is a normal German-made A6 brought to China for road tests.

Spy Shots: Volkswagen Passat B7L in China

The B7L Volkswagen Passat for China will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show nexth month. The Passat is called Magotan in China and made by the FAW-VW joint venture. The Magotan B7L is stretched by 14 centimeters in the middle for chaffeured driving which many Chinese buyers prefer. Engines are the same as in Europe except for the top spec R36 that is imported from Germany.

Spy Shots: US Jetta seen in China

The current Jetta is sold as ‘Sagitar’ in China because the ancient old Jetta is still being made in China as well. The Sagitar is based on the European Jetta. The appearance of the US-Jetta in China can mean two things: a replacement for the current Sagitar or a new addition to the already very crowded Volkswagen-line. Volkswagen will likely bring the US Jetta to the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

Two Million Jetta’s made in China, VW celebrates with special edition

The good old Jetta is still rolling of the line in China, made by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. In 20 years they made 2 million Jetta’s, VW will celebrate in April with a special edition called the ‘New Jetta 2 Million’. It gets a special paint and a more luxurious interior. The ‘2 Million’ will likely debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.

China-made Volkswagen Passat CC to be Listed in May

The Volkswagen Passat CC, simply called Volkswagen CC in China, is currently imported. That will change from April when local production starts at the FAW-VW joint venture in Changchun in Jilin province. The China-made CC will then be listed in April. Engines: 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI. Local production will enable Volkswagen to lower prices a lot. The price of the imported car starts at 250.000 yuan, price of the locally made car will start around 200.000 yuan.

Volkswagen Passat B7 to Come to China

The new Volkwagen Passat B7 will come to China. It will be sold as ‘Magotan’ just like the current Passat B6. The Magotan B7 will be made in China by the FAW-VW joint venture. the name ‘Passat’ will be used for the ‘American’ Passat (fka MMS) which will be made in China too. The made-in-China B7 will have a streched wheelbase for the chauffeur-driven Chinese market. Stretched by how much is the question, some reports say by 10 centimeter, others by 14.

Audi’s big plans in China

Dominique Boesch, general manager of Audi Sales Division at FAW Volkswagen, talked to China Daily about Audi’s plans for the future in China. More Audi’s will be made locally, Boesch however did not say which ones. Good guess: the A1 goes first. Read on for the interview:

German luxury carmaker Audi AG plans to further localize production in a strategic move to meet its ambitious target – selling 1 million cars in the world’s biggest auto market over the next three years.

Dominique Boesch, general manager of Audi Sales Division at Sino-German joint venture FAW Volkswagen Automobile Co, said in an interview last week that Audi will begin production of new models in China “more speedily” in the years to come.
