Where to Donate Clothing, Furniture & More on Long Island

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island

We all know what it’s like to hold on to clothes that we couldn’t fit into since we were teenagers, or that we just know we’ll wear some day. But rather than taking up space in your closet, those dresses, skirts, shirts or pants could be put to good use by someone less fortunate.

Here are some places where you can donate clothing on Long Island. Not only will you score great karma, but you’ll also have a cleaner, more spacious closet. Always ask for a receipt and you can take your donation as a tax deduction.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island

To find clothing bin locations near you, please go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island. You may also call (631) 234-0000 to arrange a free pick-up at your home. The organization accepts gently used clothing, coats, shoes, toys and small household items.

The organization distributes some items to families in need and to other Long Island charities for their clients. They also sell donations to thrift stores. All profits go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island.

Dress for Success Brookhaven

Donate your gently used business attire for women to Dress for success. The organization will distribute the clothing to disadvantaged women to help them in their work and their lives.

They accept donations of new and gently used, work appropriate clothing and accessories, as well as donations of cash to help with operating costs. Please see their Dress for Success page for more information about what they need and how to make a donation.
